Matapu School is situated in a prominent dairy farming area, which draws a diverse mix of students and supportive whanau. The school was established in 1888 and celebrated its 125th jubilee in 2014. Matapu School enjoys tremendous bicultural community support, the nature of which allows us to enrich our learning programmes with a wide variety of experience and skills from our community.

School Pool – TEMPORARY CLOSURE

Matapu School Pool is closed for a chemical clean from Sunday the 22nd at 5pm until Monday 23rd at 9pm. Everything will be back up and running for swimming again on Tuesday morning. Apologies for any inconvenience.

With the last day of the school year now upon us, we thought it was timely to share our 2022 Matapu School Yearbook with you. It has been appropriately named ‘The Matamag’ in reference to a publication that used to circulate in the local community many years ago. Matapu History Fact


The ‘Matamag’ – School principal Mr Charles Baunton first introduced the ‘Matamag’ in 1963 as a way of keeping the school and district in touch. At one stage it had a distribution of 150 copies.

Shared Lunch for the Whole School

This is just a reminder that every class is having a shared lunch tomorrow at school.


As it is the last few days of the term, the whole school will be celebrating all of their hard work this year with a shared lunch at school on Monday 12th December. Could your child/ren please bring something to share for lunch with the rest of their class. If your child has any food allergies, please ensure that they have their own lunch to eat and know not to eat any of the shared food.

Swimming

Just a reminder that our school pool is open to students tomorrow. Every class will have one session per day for the rest of the term. Please send your children to school with a swimming bag, togs, and towel.
Community pool keys are available to be purchased this week for $70, with key holders being able to use the school pool outside of school hours from Monday 5th December.

Cycle Skills

Tomorrow we have Roadsafe Taranaki coming in to run cycle skills sessions with our students. If your child has a suitable bike at home, can we please ask you to bring it to school for them to use tomorrow morning, along with a helmet and covered shoes. There will be an area fenced off in front of the admin area for the students to store their bikes during the day. Can you please arrange for the bike to be picked up after school tomorrow afternoon as we do not have the space to store the bikes over night.
